Nova is a leading innovator and a key provider of metrology solutions for advanced process control in semiconductor manufacturing. We maintain our technological edge by continuously introducing disruptive capabilities and expanding our technology portfolio. Our product innovation combines robust, high-precision optical and X-ray design with unique algorithms and software modeling engines.
We are seeking an Algorithm Team Manager to join the DMD Algorithm Group. In this role, you will lead a team of algorithm developers responsible for developing advanced modeling, signal-processing, optimization, and machine-learning solutions for Nova’s semiconductor metrology products. You will combine strong technical leadership with people leadership and delivery ownership, driving algorithmic solutions from early research and feasibility through productization, customer deployment, and continuous improvement.
Role Responsibilities
What will you be doing:
Manage, mentor, and develop a team of algorithm developers, building strong technical ownership, collaboration, and execution excellence.
Lead the delivery of high-impact algorithmic projects for DMD products and applications, from concept and feasibility through implementation, integration, validation, and release.
Define technical direction, priorities, milestones, and resource allocation across multiple parallel R&D activities.
Drive the development of advanced physical modeling, data-analysis, optimization, signal-processing, and machine-learning algorithms.
Work closely with Systems, Physics, Software, Applications, Product, and Program teams to translate product and customer needs into robust algorithmic solutions.
Ensure algorithm quality through clear requirements, sound architecture, code reviews, testing, performance analysis, documentation, and maintainable development practices.
Support product integration, customer evaluations, and escalations, including analysis of complex field and fab data.
Identify technological gaps and opportunities, initiate innovative solutions, and contribute to the DMD algorithm and product roadmaps.
Communicate project status, risks, trade-offs, and recommendations clearly to technical and management stakeholders.
M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
Proven experience leading an algorithm, applied research, or multidisciplinary R&D team.
Strong technical background and demonstrated experience in algorithm development, numerical modeling, data analysis, optimization, signal processing, and machine learning.
Proficiency in Python and scientific computing tools; experience with production-quality software development practices.
Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects, set priorities, manage dependencies, and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to connect physical understanding, data, and algorithmic methods.
Excellent communication skills in English and the ability to work effectively across disciplines, functions, and global teams.
The special something you bring with you:
A leadership style that combines technical depth, accountability, and genuine investment in people.
Ability to move comfortably between strategic thinking, detailed technical discussions, and practical execution.
Curiosity and creativity in exploring new algorithmic approaches while maintaining a strong focus on product and customer value.
Excellent collaboration and influencing skills, with the ability to align stakeholders and lead effectively in a matrix organization.
A proactive, independent, and results-oriented mindset, with a consistent record of delivering complex projects on time and at high quality.
