SentinelOne was founded in 2013 by Tomer Weingarten and Almog Cohen. The company is headquartered in Mountain View, California, and operates a large R&D center in Tel Aviv. SentinelOne went public on the NYSE under the ticker 'S' in June 2021, which at the time marked the highest-valued cybersecurity IPO in history, raising $1.2 billion at an approximate $10 billion valuation. The company employs over 2,000 people globally. Its core product is an AI-powered extended detection and response (XDR) platform. In early 2024, SentinelOne acquired the cloud-native application protection platform (CNAPP) startup PingSafe to expand its cloud security offerings.

The primary product line is the Singularity Platform, which provides endpoint protection (EPP), endpoint detection and response (EDR), and XDR capabilities. The platform detects and blocks malicious activity, such as ransomware and fileless attacks, by monitoring system processes in real-time. It targets security operations center (SOC) teams and IT administrators across mid-market and enterprise organizations. SentinelOne's technical differentiation centers on its agent-level AI, known as "Storyline," which tracks process relationships and autonomously blocks and remediates threats directly on the device, without requiring a constant cloud connection.
