Rapyd

Rapyd is a private fintech company founded in 2016, with a global headquarters in London and a primary R&D center in Israel. The company raised significant funding from investors including Stripe and General Catalyst, reaching a peak valuation of $15 billion following a $300 million funding round in 2022.

Rapyd built a global payments infrastructure that enables businesses to accept and send payments using local methods worldwide — credit cards, bank transfers, digital wallets, and cash pay-ins — all through a single API. The problem it solves is the fragmentation of local payment methods: a company wanting to collect payments in Brazil, India, and Japan would typically need three separate local partnerships. The product targets technology companies, e-commerce platforms, and mid-to-large enterprises that do not want to manage independent payment infrastructure in every country.

The flagship product is Rapyd Collect — an API for accepting payments via local methods in over 100 countries. Alongside it sits Rapyd Disburse, for sending payments and distributing funds to global suppliers and workers. The company also offers Rapyd Wallet for digital funds management and Issuing services for virtual card issuance. In 2021, Rapyd acquired IKAJO International to expand its local payment method coverage.

Rapyd's recognized direct competitors include Stripe (with its Treasury and Connect products), Adyen, and Checkout.com. In the narrower "payment orchestration" space, PayU and Nuvei also compete directly. Rapyd positions itself as a "Fintech-as-a-Service" layer — a framing that differentiates it from pure payment processors and positions it as infrastructure for other companies.

Rapyd's primary technology center is in Tel Aviv. The majority of product development, R&D, and portions of product leadership are concentrated in Israel. The founders include Israelis, and Israel houses the core engineering team. The company has consistently hired for backend, DevOps, and product roles in Israel.
