Founding Security Researcher at Stealth Startup · Trevo
More fit checks, tailored CVs, and complete prep for every role.
Job Description
About the role
We are looking for our Founding Security Researcher to define our security vision and build our core Policy & Detection Engine from the ground up.
In this role, you will analyze network signals across cloud and modern environments, model complex architectures, and turn deep traffic analysis into powerful, automated security logic. You’ll work directly alongside the founders to translate low-level network insights into core product capabilities.
What you'll do
Drive the Security Engine: Design and expand the product’s policy logic, rules, and detection capabilities from simple heuristics to deep, context-aware security policies.
Signal Research & Ingestion: Research diverse network signals across Cloud and hybrid environments to ensure traffic is correctly ingested, resolved, and contextualized.
Network & Traffic Modeling: Model complex cloud and enterprise network topologies, communication components, and unique customer traffic flows.
Edge-Case & Behavioral Analysis: Deep-dive into edge cases and traffic anomalies to continuously improve product accuracy and outcomes.
Bridge Research & Product: Collaborate with engineering to convert research, protocol insights, and network logic into production-grade software features.
What We’re Looking For
Strong Network Foundation: Deep understanding of networking, traffic analysis, and core protocols (L3–L7). Background in network-level research or offensive security.
Cloud & Modern Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with Cloud Architecture and Cloud Networking (AWS/GCP/Azure) as well as containerized environments (Kubernetes).
Network Focus over AppSec: Strong preference for candidates focused on network behavior, traffic flows, and protocols rather than traditional AppSec, Reverse Engineering, or payload development.
Builder Mindset: Scripting/programming skills (Python, Go, etc.) to prototype ideas, validate flows, and write detection logic.
Founding Energy: High autonomy, ownership, and comfort working in an early-stage, zero-to-one environment.
