As a Thin Film Engineer at MKS Instruments, you will partner with Production Department, Engineering and Support Functions to ensure a smooth new coating technologies transfer and support the site business growth.
In this role, you will report to the Engineering Manager, in an on site setting in our Bucharest facility.

Designing new thin film coatings using an optical coatings design software for production, identifying and driving technology development
Interpreting requirements from customer input and utilize industry best known methods to build the coatings on the existent equipment
Ensuring high precision in film thickness and uniformity for all coating processes
Developing and executing coating verification tests
Reducing production cost without compromising on quality which involves optimizing processes and materials
Study the evolution of optical coatings technical processes on the market and make reports regarding improvement of actual processes and use new processes / equipment’s / materials
Writing all working procedures for the new developed coatings including: elements cleaning, preparation to coating, coating, flipping, disassembly after coating
Communicating regularly with upper management regarding problems or issues impacting production
Evaluating machine resources to ensure continued production and minimal downtime
Setting, following and enforcing all local& corporate HSE requirements.
Skills You Bring:
Degree in Physics, Optics, Engineering, or related science field.
Experience in optical coating/thin-film deposition processes in a manufacturing environment is considered a plus.
Extensive knowledge of high vacuum systems, Evaporation and Sputtering technology
Familiar with data analysis tools
Strong understanding of material science
Mandatory English language is required for business understanding and customer requirements
High communication skills, ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong working relationships
