Position Summary
The Head of Monetization & Economy is responsible for driving the business optimization, monetization models, and game economy strategy across the studio’s portfolio—featuring one live product and two upcoming games in the pre-scale phase. This role is a unique blend of highly analytical business strategy and a deep commitment to the player experience. You will be hands-on in crafting the game economy, while managing and leading the LiveOps and monetization operations functions. By collaborating closely with Product, Creative, and LiveOps teams, you will champion out-of-the-box thinking and leverage cutting-edge AI tools to deliver sustainable growth, compelling in-game campaigns, and an unforgettable player journey.
What you'll do
Business & Monetization Strategy: Drive the commercial success of our games by optimizing business models, monetization strategies, and revenue streams, ensuring a balance between high profitability and excellent player retention.
Hands-on Economy Design: Take a deeply hands-on approach to building, balancing, and optimizing the game economy and math models. Design the delicate balance of difficulty curves versus reward systems to maximize engagement.
Player Experience & Product Collaboration: Share the burden of the overall player experience. Collaborate closely with the Product department to spec features that support monetization, shape the creative direction, and design compelling in-game campaigns and events.
LiveOps & Configuration Management: Manage and lead the LiveOps and monetization operations function (including configuration specialists). Oversee the end-to-end execution of events, A/B tests, and economy updates to ensure flawless delivery.
Scaling & Launch: Build the foundational economy frameworks for two games currently in the launch/pre-scale phase, driving them from soft launch to successful global scale.
Innovation & AI Adoption: Act as a pioneer in adopting new technologies. Leverage AI tools and out-of-the-box thinking to optimize economy balancing, automate workflows, and uncover new monetization opportunities.
Data & Experimentation: Analyze player behavior and economy health. Define experimentation strategies and run A/B tests to continuously optimize both business KPIs and player satisfaction.
Requirements
Must: 5+ years of experience in Game Economy, Monetization, Product Management, or LiveOps within the gaming industry.
Must: Proven hands-on experience designing, building, and balancing complex game economies, math models, and progression systems.
Must: Demonstrated experience managing employees and leading operational functions (LiveOps, monetization ops, or configuration teams).
Strong understanding of the holistic player experience, including difficulty tuning, reward loops, and the impact of creative assets on player behavior.
Strong strategic and business acumen, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business and product decisions.
A forward-thinking mindset with a demonstrated passion for exploring and adopting AI tools and innovative tech in day-to-day work.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with Product, R&D, and Creative teams.
Advantage: Experience with Ad-driven Free-to-Play business models (Ad-Monetization, Rewarded Video, Interstitials) and mediation platforms.
