Upwind is a next-generation Cloud Security Platform that leverages runtime context to identify and prioritize critical risks, providing precise insights and efficient cloud security management. Unlike traditional tools, Upwind uses runtime data proactively for risk prioritization and posture insights, ensuring teams focus on what truly matters. With industry-leading efficiency and eBPF-powered sensors, Upwind delivers comprehensive capabilities, including agentless cloud posture discovery, real-time threat protection, and integrated API security. From misconfigurations to malware defense, Upwind ensures end-to-end, cost-effective protection of cloud infrastructure. At Upwind, you'll have the opportunity to think creatively, explore new ideas, and use your skills to make a meaningful impact on our growth.
We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Platforms team. This is a hands-on role for an engineer with 1 to 3 years of professional experience who wants broad ownership across the stack and short feedback loops between writing code and seeing it used.
The Platforms team owns core systems that Upwind's engineering and security organizations are built on: backend services and APIs, data and event pipelines operating at scale, and the applications layered on top of them. You will own your work end to end, from design through deployment and ongoing operation, and partner with teams across engineering, security, and product to take problems from an open brief to a system running in production.
What you'll do
Develop and maintain backend services and APIs in Python and Go
Build web interfaces on top of those services, primarily in React
Build and operate data and event pipelines that move large volumes of data reliably
Work with relational and search-based data stores, including schema design, indexing, and query performance
Deploy and operate your services in the cloud, and own their reliability once they are live
Debug production issues across the stack and drive fixes to root cause
Work closely with engineering, security, and product stakeholders to turn loosely defined needs into production systems
Requirements
B.Sc. in Computer Science
1 to 3 years of professional experience building and shipping production software
Strong programming skills, with proven experience designing and building backend services and APIs
Practical frontend experience with React and modern JavaScript or TypeScript
Solid grounding in relational databases, including data modeling and writing efficient queries against non-trivial schemas
Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and with containerized workloads
Demonstrated ability to take a task from ambiguous requirements to a deployed, working solution with limited supervision
Nice to have
Experience working across both Python and Go in production
Experience with search, observability, or monitoring stacks (OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, Grafana, Prometheus)
Experience with event-driven or queue-based architectures (SQS, Redis)
Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, or other infrastructure-as-code tooling
Background or genuine interest in security: cloud security, SOC and SIEM workflows, detection engineering, or supply chain security
Experience integrating LLM APIs or building AI-assisted workflows into real products
