Tower Semiconductor is an Israeli contract chip manufacturer (foundry) listed on NASDAQ under the ticker TSEM and also on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. The company does not design chips of its own; instead, it manufactures semiconductors designed by external customers, with a focus on specialty process technologies — including analog, mixed-signal, RF, power management, and CMOS image sensors — rather than the leading-edge digital processes that dominate the broader foundry market.

The company's core manufacturing facilities are located in Migdal HaEmek in northern Israel. It also operates fabs in the United States (Newark, California and Newbury Park, California) and in Japan through TPSCo, a joint venture formed with Panasonic.

In 2022, Intel announced an agreement to acquire Tower Semiconductor for approximately $5.4 billion. The deal was terminated in 2023 after regulatory approval from China was not obtained within the required timeframe. Tower remains an independent publicly traded company.

Tower operates as a pure-play foundry. Its specialty process technologies serve industries including automotive, wireless communications, medical imaging, and consumer electronics. Its customers are primarily fabless semiconductor companies that outsource their manufacturing entirely.

Tower's primary manufacturing and engineering operations are concentrated in Migdal HaEmek. Israel houses the company's core R&D, process development, and active fabrication operations.
