About the Role:
We are looking for a Subject Matter Expert (SME 1) – Revenue Recognition, Professional Services to join our Finance Revenue team in Pune, India.
The ideal candidate is a technically strong accounting professional with deep expertise in US GAAP (ASC 606), hands-on experience with revenue systems, and a proactive mindset toward process improvement and automation. Beyond day-to-day execution, this role requires someone who can independently own complex revenue areas, drive operational efficiency, and contribute to the team's automation and AI-assisted workflow initiatives.
This role reports to the Assistant Manager / Manager, Revenue Operations and collaborates closely with cross functional teams.
What You'll Do:
Execute month-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate recording of Professional Services revenue in accordance with US GAAP (ASC 606) and CrowdStrike's revenue recognition policies, collaborating directly with cross-functional teams.
Review Statements of Work (SOWs) and determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment under ASC 606, including complex and non-standard arrangements.
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and support schedules for revenue and related balance sheet accounts.
Own and continuously improve end-to-end revenue accounting processes, desktop procedures, and internal documentation.
Lead or co-lead process improvement and automation initiatives, identifying operational inefficiencies and delivering scalable, sustainable solutions.
Support system implementations, upgrades, and UAT as a Finance subject matter expert.
Develop familiarity with AI and automation tools relevant to revenue operations — such as automated contract review, document processing, and AI-assisted reconciliations.
Maintain and continuously strengthen SOX internal controls for revenue recognition and related balance sheet accounts, proactively identifying and remediating control gaps.
What You'll Need:
6-8 years of progressive experience in revenue accounting or technical accounting, preferably in a SaaS or technology company.
Strong working knowledge of ASC 606 / US GAAP, with hands-on experience in Professional Services.
Functional or power-user proficiency in revenue and PSA systems such as NetSuite, Salesforce CPQ, FinancialForce/Certinia, or equivalent platforms.
Experience owning or contributing to process improvement or automation projects in a finance department.
Solid understanding of SOX compliance and internal control frameworks.
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel; experience with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex accounting concepts to non-accounting stakeholders.
CA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
Shift Timing : 5:00 PM to 2:00 AM IST
Work Location : Kharadi, Pune (Work from Office)
