Join Altera as a Business Development Manager – U.S. Government! The Business Development Manager – U.S. Government is responsible for but not limited to:
Identify, qualify, and capture new business opportunities within the U.S. government, with a focus on DoD programs, defense agencies (DARPA, DIU, AFRL, NRL, etc.), and intelligence community customers.
Build and manage relationships with key government stakeholders, program offices, systems integrators, and prime defense contractors.
Represent Altera's Aerospace, Defense and Government (ADG) business unit in customer-facing engagements, promoting solutions for next-generation wideband RF systems, radar, electronic warfare, and secure communications.
Drive awareness and adoption of Agilex 9 Direct RF Series FPGAs, which integrate RF, compute, and high-speed transceivers for applications such as adaptive radar, cognitive electronic warfare, and secure, software-defined communications.
Support and expand government co-development partnerships, building on programs like the DIU RAZORBAC program, which tasks Altera with creating a highly reconfigurable optical modem prototype as a critical step toward resilient, high-bandwidth satellite communications.
Develop and execute account plans, competitive analyses, and pipeline reporting for U.S. government accounts.
Collaborate with field application engineers, product line managers, and marketing to align government customer requirements with Altera's product roadmap.
Represent Altera at government conferences, trade shows (e.g., AUSA, DSEI Americas, Space Symposium), and industry days.
Manage and respond to government RFIs, RFPs, and OTAs in partnership with contracts and legal teams.
The pay range below is for Bay Area California only. Actual salary may vary based on a number of factors including job location, job-related knowledge, skills, experiences, trainings, etc. We also offer incentive opportunities that reward employees based on individual and company performance.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field required; Master's degree preferred.
8+ years of experience in business development, capture management, technical sales, program management, or related customer-facing roles supporting U.S. Government, Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community (IC), aerospace, defense, or national security programs.
Demonstrated experience identifying, qualifying, capturing, and growing business opportunities with DoD organizations, federal agencies, defense laboratories, intelligence agencies, prime contractors, and systems integrators.
Strong understanding of FPGA technology, embedded systems, digital signal processing (DSP), RF systems, software-defined radio (SDR), radar, electronic warfare (EW), communications systems, or related defense technologies.
Proven track record of developing and managing executive-level customer relationships and successfully influencing government acquisition and technology adoption decisions.
Experience supporting government procurement processes, including RFIs, RFPs, BAAs, OTAs, SBIR/STTR programs, and other government contracting vehicles.
Knowledge of government budgeting, acquisition, and program execution processes across defense and national security organizations.
Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and customer engagement skills.
Ability to travel up to 30% domestically to customer sites, government facilities, conferences, and industry events.
This position may involve work on U.S. Government contracts that require access to controlled or classified information. Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
Experience with FPGA-based solutions, high-performance computing, AI/ML acceleration, direct RF architectures, aerospace systems, satellite communications, ISR, radar, EW, or military communications.
Existing relationships within organizations such as DARPA, DIU, AFRL, NRL, Space Force, Army, Navy, Air Force, intelligence agencies, or major defense primes.
Experience supporting technology transition from R&D programs into operational defense platforms.
Familiarity with export-controlled technologies and government compliance requirements, including ITAR and EAR regulations.
