Job description
Description
At Orca AI, we focus on developing and deploying advanced perception and autonomy systems for defense and mission-critical maritime environments. Our work spans across naval operations, unmanned platforms, and distributed sensing systems, operating under real-world constraints where reliability, adaptability, and rapid deployment are critical.
We’re hiring a Systems Engineer to take ownership of how our systems are built, integrated, and deployed beyond the R&D environment. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, operations, and real-world execution, ensuring that what we develop can be reliably configured, installed, tested, and operated in field conditions.
You will be responsible for the end-to-end system perspective, sensors, compute, comms, and software into working configurations that can be deployed in experiments and operational environments. From defining system setups and building deployment kits, through integrating and testing hardware and software, to supporting installations and field validation, you will ensure our technology works as intended outside the lab.
What Will You Do?
Own the system-level integration of Orca AI solutions across hardware, software, communications, and deployment environments
Build, assemble, and integrate physical systems and kits for demos, experiments, and deployments
Establish and maintain repeatable deployment configurations and system setups
Support and execute system installations, demos, and field deployments in Israel and abroad
Specify, evaluate, and procure hardware components (Jetson, cameras, sensors, communication modules, etc.)
Work with suppliers and support component-level adaptations or custom builds when needed
Drive system validation under real-world conditions and ensure readiness for operational use
Support compliance and align systems with defense-related requirements when applicable
Requirements
5+ years of experience working with complex physical systems (robotics, drones, autonomous systems, or defense systems)
Proven experience integrating hardware and software systems and bringing them to real-world operation
Strong Linux proficiency, including system-level debugging and remote access
Solid networking knowledge (TCP/IP, routing, VPN, cellular connectivity
Experience with edge compute platforms (e.g. Jetson or similar)
Experience integrating and calibrating sensors (cameras, GNSS, IMU, etc.)
Hands-on experience with system assembly
Strong troubleshooting capabilities across hardware, software, and communication layers
Ability to work independently and take ownership of systems end-to-end
Willingness to travel and support deployments, installations, and experiments
Nice-To-Haves
Background in defense or experience working with governmental organizations
Experience with maritime systems or unmanned platforms
Familiarity with autonomy frameworks or control systems
Experience supporting demos, pilots, or operational deployments
Familiarity with environmental and regulatory testing processes
Challenges & Opportunities
Own and operate real autonomous maritime platforms end-to-end
Bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI and operational reality at sea
Shape how Orca AI brings autonomy from prototype to real-world deployment at scale
Operate in a role that combines system engineering with hands-on execution and deployment
Is this role relevant for you?
