Viber

Viber is a messaging and voice/video calling application founded in Israel in 2010 by Talmon Marco and Idit Carmi (also known with co-founder Yair Goldfinger associated in early press; the confirmed founders are Talmon Marco and Idit Carmi — note: public sources most consistently credit Talmon Marco as the lead founder). The app launched in 2010, offering free internet-based calls and messages. In 2014, Japanese e-commerce company Rakuten acquired Viber for $900 million, after which Viber has operated as a Rakuten subsidiary.

The primary product is the Viber app — a consumer communications platform covering text messaging, voice and video calls, group chats, and Communities (large public or private group channels). The app is available on iOS, Android, and desktop. Viber also offers Viber for Business, enabling brands and enterprises to reach customers through the platform via chatbots and branded messaging channels.
