SIG SAUER, Inc. is an American firearms and defense manufacturer headquartered in Newington, New Hampshire. The company is privately held. It is a subsidiary of L&O Hunting Group, the German-Swiss parent group that also owns the original European SIG Sauer entity.

SIG SAUER designs and manufactures firearms, ammunition, suppressors, optics, and electro-optics for military, law enforcement, and commercial civilian markets. Its products are sold through direct government contracts, authorized dealers, and distributor networks. The company does not operate on a SaaS or subscription model — it is a traditional defense and sporting goods manufacturer.

SIG SAUER's most prominent product lines include the P-series semi-automatic pistols (P226, P320, P365), the MCX and MPX rifle/submachine gun families, and the ROMEO and TANGO optics lines. The P320 modular pistol was selected by the U.S. Army in 2017 under the Modular Handgun System (MHS) contract, replacing the Beretta M9 as the standard-issue sidearm, designated the M17 and M18. The U.S. Army also selected SIG SAUER's XM5 (NGSW-R) rifle and XM250 (NGSW-AR) automatic rifle in 2022 under the Next Generation Squad Weapon program. SIG SAUER's ammunition division supplies both the military 6.8mm Common Cartridge and civilian markets. The company also produces suppressors under its SRD and SRD-Ti product lines.

SIG SAUER competes directly with Glock (Austria) in the law enforcement and military pistol market, with Beretta in military sidearm contracts, and with Colt and LWRC in the military rifle segment. The MHS and NGSW contract wins represent two of the most significant U.S. Army small-arms procurement decisions in decades, positioning SIG SAUER as a primary supplier to the U.S. military for both sidearms and next-generation rifles simultaneously.
