Rafael

Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. is an Israeli state-owned company engaged in the development, manufacture, and marketing of weapons systems and defense technologies. The company is headquartered in Haifa and is one of Israel's largest defense contractors, alongside Israel Aerospace Industries and Elbit Systems.

Rafael develops and manufactures a broad range of weapons and defense systems. It sells primarily to the Israel Defense Forces and to foreign governments. Its products span air defense, anti-tank missiles, naval systems, and active protection systems for armored vehicles.

Iron Dome is Rafael's best-known product — a short-range rocket and artillery interception system developed in cooperation with Israel's Directorate of Defense R&D (MAFAT) and co-produced with Raytheon in the United States. Spike is a family of precision anti-tank guided missiles exported to dozens of countries worldwide. Trophy (also called Wind Breaker) is an active protection system designed to intercept rocket-propelled grenades and anti-tank missiles targeting armored vehicles, and has been integrated on Israeli Merkava tanks as well as U.S. Army Abrams tanks. David's Sling (Kela David) is a medium-to-long-range air defense system developed jointly with Boeing, designed to intercept cruise missiles and medium-range ballistic missiles.

Rafael's headquarters and primary manufacturing facilities are located in Haifa. The company operates additional facilities in the Negev and other locations across Israel. Rafael employs thousands of engineers, scientists, and production workers in Israel, and is a well-known employer of veterans from the IDF's technical and intelligence units.
