Cynet was founded in 2015 by Eyal Gruner, Idan Amir, and Boaz Zilber. The company operates as a privately held cybersecurity startup. In 2021, Cynet raised a $40M Series C funding round led by Greenfield Partners, bringing its total capital raised to roughly $78M at the time. The core product is an Extended Detection and Response (XDR) platform known as Cynet 360, explicitly designed to automate security operations for organizations with lean IT and security teams.

Cynet's primary offering is the Cynet 360 AutoXDR platform. It addresses the problems of security tool sprawl and alert fatigue by consolidating Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Network Detection and Response (NDR), User Behavior Analytics (UBA), and deception technologies into a single agent. The platform targets mid-market companies and SMBs that lack the resources to run a 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC). Alongside the software, Cynet includes a managed detection and response (MDR) service layer called CyOps at no additional cost, serving as an operational extension of the customer's internal team.
