In January 2022, it raised a $1B Series D round at a $40B valuation, though subsequent reports in late 2022 and 2023 indicated significant internal valuation cuts amid broader fintech market adjustments. While Checkout.com is a UK-based company, it maintains a substantial R&D center in Tel Aviv.

The core product is a unified payment API that consolidates gateway, processing, and acquiring services for enterprise merchants. The platform supports multiple local and global payment methods and currencies, built to provide businesses with granular payment data. Checkout.com established its footprint in Israel in July 2018 by acquiring the Tel Aviv-based payment technology startup Zooz, founded by Oren Levy and Ronen Ovadia. Following the acquisition, the local team was transitioned into a core R&D hub for Checkout.com's global operations. The Tel Aviv office primarily recruits for software engineering, product development, and data infrastructure roles.
