Aeronautics Ltd. was founded in 1997 by Avi Leumi. Headquartered in Yavne, Israel, the company focuses on the design and manufacturing of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) for the defense and homeland security sectors. In September 2019, Aeronautics was acquired by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and Israeli businessman Avichai Stolero for approximately 850 million NIS. Following this transaction, the company was delisted from the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange and became a privately held subsidiary.

The company develops and manufactures tactical UAVs, loitering munitions, and aerial intelligence systems. These platforms are sold directly to ministries of defense and armed forces globally through national defense procurement contracts. Aeronautics' technological baseline includes aerodynamics, proprietary avionics, secure line-of-sight communications, and payload integration tailored for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions.

The flagship product line is the Orbiter family of mini and tactical UAS, which includes the Orbiter 2, Orbiter 3, and Orbiter 4 models designed for extended ISR operations. The company also produces the Orbiter 1K, a loitering munition system. Another legacy system is the Aerostar tactical UAS. Through its subsidiaries, such as Commtact and CP Technologies, Aeronautics also supplies tactical communications links and ruggedized computing hardware for military applications.

Aeronautics competes directly with major Israeli defense contractors like Elbit Systems and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), as well as foreign defense manufacturers. The acquisition by Rafael positioned Aeronautics to integrate its drone platforms with Rafael's broader missile and defense technology portfolios. In 2017, the company faced a prominent regulatory issue when the Israeli Ministry of Defense temporarily suspended its export and marketing license for the Orbiter 1K to a specific client (Azerbaijan); the license was fully reinstated in early 2019.

Aeronautics operates its main research, development, and manufacturing facilities in Yavne. The company employs several hundred people in Israel. The Israel-based teams are responsible for aeronautical engineering, mechanical engineering, real-time software development, hardware design, and final aircraft assembly. Hiring heavily targets engineers and professionals with appropriate defense clearance and military-technological backgrounds.
